VOLUNTEER & GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
The success of the Children’s Grief Center of New Mexico depends on the very special people who help by giving time and treasure by volunteering in one or more of the following ways:
Donate!
As one participant said, "CGC provides support at the heart". Be a part of this unique service by donating today. Talk to your employer about matching gifts - and double your donation. You can do so online through networkforgood.com or call the office (323-0478) with credit card information, or mail a check to: PO Box 20218, Albuquerque, NM 87154. Receipts are mailed within 1 month! Sooner if possible! You can designate your donation to be in memory or in honor of a loved one.
Support Group Facilitators
The volunteer group facilitators are the backbone of the program. They lead the support groups for the children, teens and families. It is not unusual for 100 percent of facilitators to volunteer again. As one wrote: “This is the most rewarding thing I do.” Facilitators are trained, supported by experienced facilitators, and come from all professional backgrounds. The time commitment is approximately 3.5 hours one evening every other week for 1 year, plus 16 hours of training. The trainings are held every April and October. Supplying Light Dinners
Grieving families often need help to accomplish everyday tasks. To make it easier for the families to attend groups, the Center provides a light dinner at 5:30 p.m. Volunteers or volunteer organizations provide the sandwiches, lasagna or other selections for approximately 40 - 90 children and their caregivers. Email us to learn the dates, the needs, and the locations.
Board of Directors
The Children’s Grief Center is run by a volunteer Board of Directors. The Board President Alan Mask, and vice president Adrienne Larkin, are interested in talking with individuals who are considering service on the Board. The goal is a diversified Board that reflects our multicultural state. Board members attend 8-10 meetings per year. There is an application and interview process for potential board members. Download an application.
Help us Spread the Word
We want to help as many children as possible. Please tell people about us. Please tell us about groups that we could contact about making a presentation.
